The Wetumka Board of Education held their regular meeting on February 7, 2022. The following members, administrators and personnel were present: Donna Mcgee, Rufus Scott, John Curtis, Donnie Williamson, Nina Maas, and Susan Tyra. Allen Poole was absent.

Read moreThe Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame, Inc. nominating committee is now accepting nominations for the 2022 class of inductees to the OAAE Hall of Fame, Inc. The OAAE Hall of Fame recognizes and honors significant contributions made by African American educators or support personnel in the State of Oklahoma. President Dr. Donnie L. Nero Sr. asks that individuals, specifically those who taught or served during the early Statehood era be considered for this honor. It is imperative that those individuals are recognized for their service. Nominees to the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame, Inc. must reside or have resided in Oklahoma during his/her career in education. They must have worked as an administrator or teacher in Oklahoma at the elementary, middle, secondary, or college level; or may have worked in the capacity as support personnel for a minimum of five (5) years. They must have contributed to and influenced the education and lives of the students. In addition, they shall have been distinguished professionally in the field of education.

Mr. Ford played football under coach Watson at Shawnee High School. Coach Watson had a major impact on the life and success of Mr. Ford and in return this scholarship is established to continue the legacy of making a difference in the lives of young athletes as Coach Watson did for so many.
