Betty Jo Bowen

Betty Jo Bowen

Betty’s story began before she was born on August 10, 1930 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. God’s hand has been on her life 91 years, starting a few weeks after “the baby in a basket” left on the hotel steps was adopted by JG and Lois Cummins, whom God entrusted to raise as their own, to love, teach, and dedicated their infant baby’s life to the Lord.

She is survived by her two children, Gary Stillwell of Holdenville and Jan Lynn of Plano, Texas. She has one grandchild, Sami Harris Myers of Derby, Kansas and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Penny.

In 1946 she married Bud Stillwell. They enjoyed rodeos and even secretaried rodeos on weekends. She worked as a telephone operator, kept books at Dunlap’s, and managed the office at the livestock auction with her dad. Then life changed.

In 1970 she married Bill Bowen and relocated to Salina, Kansas. She was active in Women’s Aglow and church activities. She opened her own stores in the ladies’ apparel industry with locations both in Salina, Kansas and later in Norman, Oklahoma.

Life changed again with her first of many trips to Israel. She is “Moma Betty” to a large Israeli family, many of which lived in their home in Kansas. After moving to Texas, she attended Fountain Gate Bible College and graduated with her Masters’ degree. She then wrote her book, “Seen in the Blood “, which was published in 2004. In the following years she built custom homes both in Salina and Norman. She truly enjoyed her working years.

God has taken her many miles, places and countries around the world, far away from Oklahoma. He has used her life to infl uence and inspire many people to know God personally. He used her (a girl from Holdenville, Oklahoma) to stand in the Israeli Knesset and give a prophecy to the leaders of the country, her beloved Israel. Many Jews have made aliyah to Israel and their lives changed because of her dedication and obedience.

We have been blessed to be her children for 65 and 66 years and to share our dear Moma with people we love and our Israeli family. Now, we know she is in glory, worshiping her heavenly Father.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”
