Our sympathy is extended to the family of Gerry deLaine Russell

Gerry deLaine Russell, of Edmond, Oklahoma, went Home to be with THE LORD on January 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones and bitter - sweet tears.
Gerry was born August 13, 1942, in Portales, New Mexico to Raynard and Con nie Atkins. She spent the majority of her youth in Hobbs, New Mexico where she worked at Wacker's Five and Dime. That is where she met the love of her life, Bob - by Dale Russell. The two ran away togeth - er and were married in Seminole, Texas on February 27, 1961. So began a love affair for the ages that last- ed sixty-four years. The couple lived in many places but set up permanent roots at Old Butner Corner in Wewoka, Oklahoma to raise their children and never regretted that decision.
Gerry was the proud mother to five children, whom she loved fiercely. She had the greenest thumb in Oklahoma and loved growing plants, flowers, cacti, fruits, and vegetables. She was an avid whitetail deer hunter, harvest - ing a number of the animals throughout
her life. She wasn't a conventional hunt- er by today's stan - dards, however, as her weapon of choice was always a motor vehicle. She loved to laugh, she loved mu - sic (Elvis was her fa - vorite), loved to fish, loved animals, loved to quilt, loved films with a good love story (a few of her favorites were "How to make an American Quilt," "The Last of The Mohi - cans," and "Medicine Man."), and she loved a good cup of coffee or cappuccino. She was an amazing cook and made the best dressing in the world. She loved JESUS and was a member of Little Quarsarty Indi an Baptist Church in Cromwell, Oklahoma for many years.
During the course of her working life, she was a supervisor at Wrangler Jeanswear in Seminole, Oklahoma for many years until she graduated from Nursing School at Seminole State College. She finished her career and re - tired from The State of Oklahoma, where she worked as a reg - istered nurse.
Gerry was preced - ed in death by her parents, Raynard and Connie Atkins; one brother, Billy Atkins; her husband, Bob - by Dale Russell; one son, Billy Dale Rus - sell; and one daugh - ter, Desiree "Sam" Russell.
