Service Saturday for Evelyn LaDean Hitt

Evelyn LaDean (Rowland) Hitt passed away December 10, 2022 and is now with her Lord and Savior. Born and raised in Holdenville, OK she grew up on a farm work- ing in the fields picking cotton and pulling peanuts with her parents and siblings. She was a star basketball player and graduated valedictorian of her class from Moss High School in 1961. She continued her education at East Central University in Ada, OK and earned her degree in 1964. She relocated to Texas after graduating to start her career and eventual family. She worked in a law office but found her true passion in teaching. She taught at R.L. Turner High School for 23 years and was the business program teacher. She also taught word processing and typing.

She was the first teacher at the school they allowed to continue to teach after she started showing in her first pregnancy. For eight years she also taught night classes in business at Northlake Community College in Irving. In her retirement, she enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and family, traveling, and sharing her faith with others. She was always eager to share her testimony and share the miracles of Jesus. She is survived by her husband Jim Hitt, son, Jason Black, his fiancée Sarah

and LaDean’s grandchildren, Reese, Brie and Trace Black; daughter, Jill Schultz, her husband James and grandchildren, Shelby and Jenson Schultz. Sister, Laverne and Troy Rogers; brother, Dale Rowland and her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Jewel Rowland, her sister, Jean, and brother, Alton. She is also preceded in death by two grandsons, Alden Black and Dylan Schultz.

Pallbearers are Jason Black, James Schultz, David Rowland, Kevin Wyatt, Reese Black and Trace Black.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Banner Baptist Church, (Horntown) Holdenville, Oklahoma with Pastor Bill Rowland officiating.
