Read moreThe Okfuskee County District #3 James Yandell and Five Star Paving began work this week on the new parking lot at the old Clearview school grounds in Clearview. The parking lot will cover about one-third of the land on the east side of the old gym. This will allow automobiles to enter the grounds and park during rainy weather without the possibility of getting bogged down. In the future, there is a possibility of adding basketball goals to create play area. The citizens of Clearview consider this a great addition to the community. This is made possible through a COEDD grant.

The theme for their reunion was “Our Roots are Here.” Phyllis Wheatley was an all-Black Rosenwald School located near Hartshorne & 69 North Highway. It was the only Rosenwald school in the county. The school began as the Dunbar, Crowder and Dow schools until the Rosenwald fund constructed the last building. The school system existed from 1909 until 1956.
