Jimmie Daphne Stafford passed away in McAlester, Oklahoma on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the age of 91 years.

Jimmie was the daughter of Tilford A. Redding and Bonnie Jewel (Byrd) Redding, born on April 16, 1928, in Tiger Flats, Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. She moved to Holdenville in 1945, where she met J. W. ‘Dub’ Stafford Jr.  Dub and Jimmie were married on February 22, 1946. The two of them were blessed with a daughter, Betty, and son, Jerry, and twenty-five years together before Dub passed away on July 3, 1971.

Jimmie loved being around people and staying busy, and very much enjoyed working in the public. She became well known in the community and made many friends working in various jobs over the years, including waitress at the Bus Station Café, bookkeeper for Wonder Bread Company, sewing garments at SeamPrufe, making water coolers and ice chests at Covey Corporation, and as sales clerk for C. R. Anthony Company. What she enjoyed most was cooking for local events and special occasions. She loved to cook for Holdenville’s civic organizations such as Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club, and she particularly enjoyed cooking on steak night for the Elks Club. She was a devoted and very active member of the local American Legion Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tilford and Bonnie Redding; her husband, J. W. ‘Dub’ Stafford Jr.; three sisters: Christine, Bobbye, and Kay, and four brothers: David, Charles, Cecil, and Murrell.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Stafford Wiseman of Holdenville, and her son, Jerry W. Stafford and wife Claudia, of McAlester; six grandchildren: J. Wesley Stafford (Dalila), Ronald W. Wiseman (Brandy), Jonathan W. Wiseman (Jeddiahlyn), Jerred W. Stafford, Casey Wiseman Reich (Scott Godwin), Corey Beth Stafford-Pierce (Tyler); 17 great grandchildren: Chazz, J.J., Jordan, Sebastian, Colby, Madison, Christopher, Chloe, Jonathan, Nick, Stormy, Keaton, Hollie, Lauren, Felicity, Azlin, and Shelby; 12 great great grandchildren: Trinity, Lillian, Annora, Zane, Zoie, Zaylie, Zaybrie, Braylee, Braylor, Langston, Huntly, and Jaggar; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home’s Lillye Chapel, and Jimmie was laid to rest at Holden-ville Cemetery, with Rev. Dane Robinson officiating.
