Remembering Evelyn Chatman Burton

Ms. Burton was born in Clear-view, OK, to Selbia Steward and Thomas Chatman. Her sisters are Ruby Bouldin, Leo-rah Shaw, and Verda Farmer. Her brothers are Shelbia, Tethro, Jethro, Tommie, and Thomas Chatman. She has two children: Gerald and Roslyn Burton. She was born in Clear-view and attended high school in Clearview, OK, and received a bachelor’s degree in Education from Texas College in Tyler, TX. She was a retired School Teacher and Postal Worker with the United States Postal Service. Ms. Burton was a loving devoted mother and the rock of our family. She loved to fellowship with her Mission Sisters and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mrs. Chatman Burton taught school in Clearview in the late to mid-1950s.

Visitation will be November 8th from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rolfe Funeral Home, 2936 NE 36th Street, Oklahoma City, OK. Services will be November 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Baptist Church, 1701 N. Nebraska, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens at 12813 NE 50th in Spencer, Oklahoma.
