Dear Editor, I am writing to thank Holdenville-area residents for sharing the true meaning of Christmas with children in need this past holiday season.

The holiday fun and games were over, and we were ready to fly home. But a middle of the night message informed us our flight was cancelled and we had to rebook. And we suddenly became birds without wings.

You were asked this question countless times when you were young and you’ve asked it innumerable times to little kids: “What do you want to be when you grow up”? A slightly different version of the question was put to me when I was young: “What do you want to be IF you ever grow up?

In the United States, Martin Luther King, Jr., Day is observed annually on the third Monday in January. The day commemorates the life and work of Dr. King, who was a Baptist minister and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement.

I read this again the other day. "I will NEVER quit fighting to win against the enemy in my life. After all my bullets are gone from shooting my gun, then I’ll throw that blasted thing at ‘em. When that doesn’t work, then I’ll use my body to punch, kick and bite my way to freedom.
