Well, Nancy Pelosi gave in—finally—and signed the big Corona Bill that will hopefully give $1,200 in stimulus dollars to each taxpaying adult. The bill was stagnating for two or three days on her desk before she finally yielded to pressure and wrote her name on it.

Yep, it’s true. The Covid-19 stinks to most of us but not to all. The people testing positive for COVID-19 seem to lose their sense of smell. One victim reported that the diapers no longer smelled. Bad or good.

Even after four years past retirement, my eyes and ears always perk up when I hear (or see) an incident that relates to teachers. This one has a double meaning. Here is an example of one way to get the attention of your students, whether you are a new teacher or not.

The day finally arrived. Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed and as Forrest approaches the gatekeeper, St. Peter says, “Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you.

I envy Kevin (not his real name). He thinks God lives under his bed. He was praying out loud in his dark bedroom one night and I stopped to listen. “Are you there, G o d ? ” he said. “Where are you? Oh, I see. Under the bed...” Kevin’s unique perspectives are often a source of amusement.

George Wood was in the office to renew his subscription and we had a great visit. Many of us “old timers” remember when his dad had a local grocery store. His first store was where San Luis Restaurant is now located. Then he built a new store at 601 N. Hinckley where M & R Motors is now located.

We had 9 Moon Domino players Monday night! Isn’t that great! They were Barbara Tiger, Selma Fitzhugh, Arjean Williams, Jean Young, Lynn Marquis, Sharon Dilday, Joyce Brinlee, Cindy McDaniel and Wanda Davis. At table #1 - Sharon and Joyce played against Cindy and Wanda.
