KAYLA COMRIE, TULSA REMOTE, had a wish for her birthday. The wish was her friends was to donate backpacks to her to deliver to the Black towns she previously visited during her 13 Black Towns tour last year. Upon request from the towns, Clearview, Lima, and Taft participated.

It has been several years since we shared parts of B.J. Osborn’s Wetumka “A Centennial History.” I have read it a couple of times and it is fascinating. I hope our readers enjoy it as much as I did.

Early voting begins Thursday August 18th for voters in Hughes) County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board. Hughes County Election Board Secretary, Brandy Davis, said early voting is open to all voters.

On Saturday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Oklahoma Historical Society is partnering with the Oklahoma Conference of Black Mayors to present the Oklahoma All-Black Towns State Conference, an event that will bring together the mayors of Oklahoma’s 13 All-Black towns.
