The Wetumka Board of Education held their regular meeting, September 7 at 7:00 PM in the Administrative Office Board Room. The following members, administrators, personnel and guests were present: Donna McGee, Rufus Scott, Allen Poole, Nina Maas and Misti Pack.

We sure appreciate The Plumbers out of Holdenville for all of the hours they put in getting us back up and running here at the newspaper office. We really do appreciate you!!It’s always a good laugh and a lot of fun when I get to see my buddy Brent McGee.

Publisher’s Pen - HCTThe late Hazel Sheppard was a friend and a lady I admired. I did not know until recently that she wrote a series of articles about Wetumka and this area’s history from before statehood through the bicentennial celebration.Today, we want to share number one of the series.

The Hughes County Commissioners met for their regular weekly meeting Monday Sept. 20, 2021. Those present were Gary Phillips-Chairman, Coal Dilday-Vice Chairman, Stormy George for Tommy Peak, Brandy Hunter-1st Deputy County Clerk, Mike Dockery-Emergency Management and Sheldon Tatum RWD #6.

A regular meeting of the Wetumka City Council was held on Monday, September 13, 2021. Council members present were Donna Dyer and Josh Howk.

Wetumka will have a city wide clean up Saturday September 18, 2021. Roll off dumpsters will be available on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th. They will be located at the old city barn located at 416 n. Okmulgee. Please set batteries and appliances to the side of the dumpsters.
