Three Wetumka city council members resigned Friday after a heated meeting earlier that morning. According to paperwork filed with the Hughes County court clerk at 1:28 p.m.

With the beginning of the 2019-20 basketball season for area schools, it seems an opportune time to look at the heritage and some of the history of basketball as it was played in Holdenville and the many smaller schools that surrounded the Hughes Country Wolverines.

February marks the annual nationwide observance of African American history. Historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded, in 1926, Negro History Week to this occasion to highlight the history and contributions of African Americans.

Dustin Elementary School happenings

Some of the ladies had snow on the ground and could not make it for the Red Hat party but since the snow missed Holdenville, the party was still on.  We only had 5 to show up at Boom-a-Rang, but we had a really good time!  Thank you Boom-a-Rang! The theme was Snowmen!

We had 8 “Moon” domino players Monday night at the Nazarene Fellowship Hall.  Jean Young made the trip over from Wewoka and we were so glad to see her as she made our eight!  At table #1 - Sharon Dilday and Lynn Marquis took on Joyce Brinlee and Arjean Williams.  Arjean shot it and made it.
