Fairview Alumni Reunion June 1, 2019

THE ANNUAL FAIRVIEW SCHOOL REUNION WILL BE HELD THE WEEKEND OF MAY 31 AND JUNE 1, 2019. We will be meeting on Friday evening at Rudy Alan’s Steakhouse at 6:00 p.m. for supper and on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for lunch, also at Rudy Alan’s Steakhouse. It is located at 207 Commerce Drive, Wewoka, OK.

Shirley Ann Ballard Nero Endowment

Through a generous donation from Dr. Donnie and Shirley Nero, the Oklahoma Historical Society created the Shirley Ballard Nero endowment.

Oklahoma History and Preservation Conference

The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) presents an annual conference in April. Each year the conference focuses on a different theme pertaining to Oklahoma history, preservation, and culture. Conference sessions are presented by historians, authors, and scholars from around the state and country.

The Verden Separate School

Nestled below the red dirt bluffs of southwestern Oklahoma farmlands, a small but important part of African American history sat waiting to be discovered. During the filming of local television documentary about Black history in Grady County, the Verden Separate School was rediscovered by Loretta Y.

Congratulations Weleetka Class of 2019!

Shane Angel Shane Angel is the son of Mark Angel and Sheryl Angel and has attended Weleetka Schools since 2013. His activities are Band, Skills USA, Football and Powerlifting. Shane has won awards for district trio competition, four Labor Day marching medals and 5th place in powerlifting.

Rain doesn’t ruin Red Hatters outing

The Red Hatters didn’t let a little rain spoil their luncheon meeting at the Catfish Roundup in Seminole on April 13.  Randa Phillips’s sister was visiting and she asked her to come with her.
