Rib Sale to Benefit Melanie Yarbrough Tomlinson

The Calvin Masonic Lodge #221 is having a Smoked Rib Sale to assist Melanie Yarbrough Tomlinson with medical expenses. The ribs will be $20/slab and orders can be placed with any Calvin Lodge member or at any Calvin business. So that we can get an accurate count, we will stop taking orders at 4 p.

LaceyAnn Lake Celebrates Her 9th Birthday

LaceyAnn was honored with a surprise birthday party on Sunday after at the Clearview Main Street Community Center in Clearview. Her mother Angela and fiancée Pastor Derrick A. Scobey were host of the party to many family and friends of LaceyAnn.

The OHCE Brown Suggas Meet

The OHCE Brown Suggas Club met on Monday evening for their monthly meeting. Denitia St. Claire lead the devotional for the month. Marjorie Plunkett and Helen Bush served as hostess providing the group with homemade chili dinner and desserts.

Recipe from the Clearview Cookbook

Old Fashioned Egg Custard Pie 3 eggs, well beaten ¼ tsp. nutmeg 1 cup sugar 1 unbaked pie crust 1 pt. milk (2 cups) 1 egg white, slightly beaten Mix eggs, sugar, milk and nutmeg. Pour into pie crust which has been brushed with white of an egg. (This keeps crust from becoming soggy.

Hughes County Fair Blue Ribbon Winners

Pictured at the left are Kathy Aldridge, Makayla Crawford and Faye Carter. MaKayla won First Place with the refinished table pictured. The table was given to her great-grandparents, Bert and Amy Robison on January 28, 1936 as a wedding gift from Grandpa Bert’s aunt and uncle.

Red Hatters enjoy outing to Catfish Roundup

We had 11 Red Hatters travel to Catfish Roundup Saturday Oct. 13th for our monthly meeting.  We had planned on going to McAlester to their Red Hat meeting but that wasn’t meant to be, so off to our favorite fish place. The first agenda was the collection of our “Prom” money.
