An early 99th Birthday Brunch Surprise for Joy Simmons (a/k/a Tootsie): Pastor Claude and Reinette Butler (retired pastor and his wife of First Baptist Church, Wetumka) graciously opened up their hearts and home to longtime church friends in honor of Joy’s 99th birthday.

Members of the Okfuskee County OHCE clubs traveled to Guthrie, Oklahoma to attend the Northeast District OHCE meeting. The theme of the meeting was “OHCE Spring Cleaning my Heart and Home!” The host counties were Kay, Logan and Noble.

Dr. Donnie Nero, Shirley Nero, and Marilyn Jackson attended the 2o25 DOTS (Discovering Options To Succeed) District 7 East Oklahoma County Health Departments Summit held on April 2, 2025, at Rougher Village in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Lazarus C. Reed Jr. was born July 15, 1923, in Clearview, Oklahoma as the son of Lazarus C. Reed Sr. and Minnie Alma Bush. Minnie A. Bush died in 1927. Lazarus Jr. was reared in the home of Minnie’s sister, Lula Ellen Bush Mayberry.

Clearview recently reelected trustees Marilyn Jackson and Donnie Nero, as well as treasurer/clerk Shirley Nero, all unopposed. Alvin Lucas has returned home from the hospital in Tulsa and is on dialysis.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Several Hughes County students were honored by the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture with academic scholarship support for the 2025-2026 academic year.
