In Memory of the Clearview Rodeo

On February 6, 2021, Romeo James Alford Jr passed from this life due to COVID complication. He was the son of the late Romeo and Louise Swain Alford of Clearview, owners of the original All-Black Clearview Rodeo. With his death, the rodeo ceased to be. This was a huge loss to the family and to the town of Clearview. But their memories live on. His wife Brenda and daughter Jordan continue to maintain the legacy and the grounds. Hopefully, they will return the rodeo to Clearview.

Kayla Comrie, Tulsa Remote, receives birthday wish

KAYLA COMRIE, TULSA REMOTE, had a wish for her birthday. The wish was her friends was to donate backpacks to her to deliver to the Black towns she previously visited during her 13 Black Towns tour last year. Upon request from the towns, Clearview, Lima, and Taft participated. Kayla was able to deliver over 100 backpacks to these towns thanks to her generosity. Two of her Tulsa Remote friends (pictured on the Clearview Welcome Center porch) helped with the delivery.

LeBryant Pigeon, Graham-Dustin Valedictorian receives ORRC Scholarship

LeBryant Pigeon, Graham- Dustin’s 2022 Valedictorian of the senior class recently received the ORRC Scholarship. He will be attending the University of Science and Arts, majoring in Biology.

Service Monday for Edward Jewell Crutcher

Edward Jewell Crutcher passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in McLoud, Oklahoma at the age of 80. Edward was born September 1, 1941 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Lee Warren Crutcher and Betty L. (Daly) Crutcher. He graduated from Holdenville High School. Edward had worked at Fleming Foods Company as a Forklift operator until his retirement. He was a member of Minneha Free Will Baptist Church in McLoud. Edward served in the Army National Guard of Oklahoma from 1963 to 1969. He enjoyed playing guitar and spending time with family and friends.

Christopher ‘Fuji’ McGirt passed away in Holdenville on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the age of 49 years. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 13, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, with interment at Wewoka Methodist Indian Church Cemetery in Yeager. Wake service will be Friday, August 12, 6:00pm - 7:30pm at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel.
