Drug bust on Wetumka Main St.

On February 16, 2022, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) Agent Brian Bagwell was briefed by Agent in Charge Mitch Smith, of a residence at 408 South Main Street in Wetumka that was believed to have approximately 600 pounds of marijuana inside of the residence. Smith told Agent Bagwell that John Rhinehart was arrested on a Hughes County Drug court violation and had made statements to the jailer while he was being booked into the Hughes County jail about marijuana being in his house. He told the Jailer that he had approximately 600 pounds of marijuana in the front room of his residence. The jailer then observed Rhinehart making a phone call on the recorded phone lines at the Hughes County Jail. The jailer then spoke with Deputy Dane Scribner about the statements that were made by Rhinehart.

AZURA BOWMAN

AZURA BOWMAN, a Wetumka High School junior and current Bio-Med student at Wes Watkins Technology Center, served as a page for the Oklahoma House of Representatives in February. Cappi Coleman, her Bio-Med instructor at WWTC, encouraged her to fill out the application and she was accepted. Azura told us she observed the representatives in action, and took them things that they needed throughout the day. She also sat in on a mock session of bills being introduced on the house floor. Azura is pictured above with Representative Logan Phillips, District 24. Additional photos page 15.

BLESSING BOX AT WETUMKA FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH—After seeing the need people have for food a blessing box was erected at the church. It was placed there in memory of Elizabeth Rose, who recently passed away. Mrs. Rose was always lending a helping hand in any way she could, so the church wanted to do this in her honor. The people of Wetumka are invited to “Take what they NEED and leave what they CAN. It is opened to the whole town and everyone is invited to participate in taking and giving. You are invited to join them in worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am.
