One of the more popular expressions knocked around by people in my age group (OLD!!) is “used to be.” That is certainly true of our mothers, past and present.

We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi.

This is not original but certainly worth revisiting. No nursing home for me! I’ll be checking into a MARRIOTT! With the average cost for nursing home care being $275 per day, there is a better way when we get old and too feeble. I’ve also checked on reservations at the FAIRFIELD.

Forget New Year’s Resolutions, how about a recipe for a peace-filled life? 1. Take a 10-30 minute walk (run) every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant. 2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what is going on in your life.
