Arthur James Bruner Jr. passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, at St John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84.

Arthur as born July 24, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Arthur Bruner Sr. and Izora (Walker) Bruner. Arthur graduated from Haskell Institute. He later attended Miami NEO, Tulsa Jr College and Tulsa University Seminary. Arthur also attended Ziegler Art School and Triangle Art School.

Arthur and Janell were married August 6, 1963 in Stigler, Oklahoma. Arthur served in the US Army. He was an artist. Arthur enjoyed painting, drawing, collecting Indian pottery and collecting antiques. He enjoyed telling stories about his Indian heritage, and he loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents; son Arthur James Bruner, III; and siblings James Bruner, Johnnie Mae Kalinich, Quena Anderson, Doreen Buck, John Lee Bruner, Leon Bruner, Jack Bruner, Tippie Bruner and Minnie Ruth Faxon.

He is survived by his wife Janell of the home; daughters Suzanne Van Orsdol of Tulsa, and Francine Ivey and husband Lance of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Tiffany Bruner of Tulsa, Tarra Van Orsdol of Tulsa, Tim Van Orsdol of Tulsa, Victoria Grace Ivey of Fort Worth, Aaron Barr and wife Roxanne of Tulsa, Kenan Swimmer and wife Chanene of Tulsa, Konan Swimmer and wife Briana of Broken Arrow, Tashina Swimmer of Tulsa, Dillon Bruner of Tulsa, and Tristan Bruner of Tulsa; seven great-grandchildren and brother Harry Bruner of Seminole. Arthur is also survived by nieces, nephew, numerous cousins and friends.

Viewing will be 10:30 am to 4:00 pm Friday, May 21st , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. He will be taken to Many Springs Baptist Church at 4:00 pm on Friday.

Wake service will be 7:00 pm Friday, May 21st , at Many Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 22nd , at Many Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Anderson officiating assisted by Pastor Mark Smith. Speaker Francine Ivey and music by Tarra Van Orsdol and Connie Foreman. Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Otis Buck, Jeff Anderson, Leon Bruner, Jr., Mekko Kalinich, Sterlin Harjo and John Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Anderson, Andy Anderson, Paul Faxon, Steve Looper, Lance Ivey, Kenny Chambers, Trey Harjo, Pastor Paul Fixico and Harry Walker.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
