Celebration of Life for Beverly Kennerly Holmes

Beverly Lynne (Kennerly) Holmes was born on January 25, 1939 to Bernice and Paul Kennerly.  She departed for heaven on Friday, September 13, 2019.

Beverly was a graduate of Holden-ville High School, where she met the love of her life, Wesley (Buddy) Howard Holmes III.  Bud preceded her in death in 1997 and was assuredly waiting to greet her, along with her son David who preceded her in 2011.

Growing up, Bev was known to be super smart, graduating as Valedictorian of her class and as the girl who could do complex mathematics in her head. She went on to obtain a Masters degree in teaching, with an emphasis in math and science.  Beverly became a passionate educator who adored teaching math, spending most of her career at Paden High School.  She loved being a Paden Pirate, dressing up on spirit days, and dressing every day with a sense of whimsical fashion that usually involved crazy shoes, sweaters, or pigs.  She made lifelong friends at Paden.

She was a consummate pig collector from concrete garden pigs to a pig that oinked every time the refrigerator was opened, but most of all she had a giving heart. She felt fulfilled being an anonymous angel donor every Christmas. Beverly loved life, and her laughter filled a room.  She was smart, silly, loving, and kind.

She and Bud resided in Okemah where she raised her three children, who thought that she was the most amazing mom. Her evenings drinking coffee with her friends, going to the movies, taking trips to the pool, or chaperoning kid events was an enormous part of her life. She loved her family unconditionally. Beverly was blessed with two grandchildren, Kyler and Tayber Jones, who were spoiled by her love and generosity. She was their Granny and will forever be in their hearts.

Beverly is survived by her son Trey Holmes, and his wife Linda; Toni (Holmes) Jones, and her husband John; grandsons Kyler and Tayber Jones; Tracy Holmes Woods, forever a daughter-in-law; her sister Paula Sue (Kennerly) and husband Toby Townsend; and a host of dear friends.

A graveside Celebration of Life for 80 wonderful years on this planet will be held on Saturday, October 19th , 11:00 am, Holdenville Cemetery.

Graveside service under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Holdenville, Oklahoma.
