Centenarian Willella Morris Abel

Willella Morris Abel, of Oklahoma City, passed away at the fabulous age of 100 years old. Willella was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma on July 18, 1922. One of nine children born to Ed and Viola (Boydston) Morris, Willie grew up knowing the love of family and God.

She graduated from Butner High School, went on to attend Beauty College, and worked as a cosmetology instructor when she was younger. Willie was a caring person and always thought of others. She was a poet, an artist and a bowler. She was a homemaker and cherished the time she had being at home with her children, Suzanne and Kevin.

Willie married Gorden Glenn Abel on June 20, 1942 and they were married 55 wonderful, loving years until his passing on January 3, 1997. After Gorden’s passing, Willella moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to family. During her time in Oklahoma City, she would attend United Methodist Church of the Servant along with her daughter. She eventually would need more care and became a resident of Heritage Point Living Center. Willie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gorden Abel, her son Kevin Morris Abel, siblings O.K. Morris, Benjamen Morris, Garland Morris, Ulysis Morris, infant brother, Kenneth Morris, Mary Morris, and Joetta Morris.

She leaves to carry on her legacy her daughter Suzanne and husband Warren Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, her caring staff at Heritage Point and of course her constant companion her feline baby Kahzana.

A celebration of Willie’s life will be 10:00 AM Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the committal service that day at 3:00 PM at Wetumka Cemetery, Wetumka, OK.
