Cheryle Kay Janes passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at the age of 61 years.

Cheryle was the daughter of Willie & Clara (Hyatt) Brown, born on April 30, 1959 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended Seminole schools, graduating Seminole High School with the Class of 1977. She attended Seminole Junior College in pursuit of a career in nursing but gave up that ambition in order to take care of her parents. She lived in California for a brief time before returning to Seminole. She was married to John Janes on May 22, 1982. They made their home in Holdenville, and were blessed with two children, Nick and Megan. Cheryle never lost her interest in being of service to people, and cared not only for her parents, but for others as well. She enjoyed cooking and she was an exceptional seamstress. Some of her favorite things were writing, attending church, and giving gifts. She was a very good gifter and loved making people smile. What she loved most was spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of New Life Church in Wewoka.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Amber; her parents, Willie and Clara Brown; her sister, Judy Romano.

She is survived by her son, Nick Janes and wife Jessica, of Atwood, and her daughter, Megan Janes, of Mooreland; two grandchildren, Jaelyn Janes and Jace Janes, of Atwood; sister Deborah Fairchild of Edmond, and brother, Billy Brown of Seminole; half-sister Becky; the father of her children, John Janes of Holdenville; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at New Life Church in Wewoka, and Cheryle will be laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Azlin is the officiating minister.

Viewing at the funeral home will be Wednesday, March 3, 4pm to 8pm and Thursday, March 4, 10am to 8pm, with the family receiving guests on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm.
