David Jimboy passed away in McAlester, Oklahoma on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the age of 66 years.

David was the son of William & Helen (Harjo) Jimboy, born on August 20, 1953, in Claremore, Oklahoma. He was brought up in Sapulpa and Okemah. He attended Seneca School until eighth grade graduation, and Sequoiah High School from ninth grade through eleventh grade. He graduated Okemah High School with the Class of 1971. He joined the U.S. Marines and served for three years during the Vietnam War. Following military service, he returned to Okemah and worked for a while as a farm hand, and three years for Krumme Cable Company. He married Jensie Powell in Okemah on May 23, 1980. He was employed as security for Chickasaw Nation at Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada until he retired in 2008 due to failing health.

David was a devoted OU football and Thunder basketball fan. He was a member of the American Legion, and a member of Creek Chapel Methodist Church in Okemah. Some of his favorite things were fishing, noodling, and going to casinos, and he particularly loved pestering his family. He was much loved, and he will be sorely missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William & Helen Jimboy; his daughter, Shelly Harjo; his sister, Leah Jack, and his brother, Alton Jimboy.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Jensie Jimboy; four children: Ronda Palacios (Walter) of Memphis TN, Angie Nunnally of Henryetta, David Jimboy Jr. of Spokane WA, and James Jimboy of Glenpool; twelve grandchildren: Mvhayv Harjo, Brent Clay, Taran Clay, Alisha Harjo, Kason Silva, Mikayla Jimboy, Nakota Jimboy, Noah Jimboy, Teneke Jimboy, Paizley Nunnally, Isaiah Jimboy, and Peyton Jimboy; two great grandchildren, Arianna Bell and Avan Butler; one brother, Marcy Jimboy of Allen; five sisters: Edith Jimboy of Clearview, Louisa ‘Kitty’ Chotkey of Glenpool, Robin Jimboy of Okemah, Margie Thompson of Glenpool, and Princess Chester of Tahlequah; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 17, 2020, 2:00 p.m. at Many Springs Baptist Church, and David was laid to rest at Yeager Cemetery with military rites by the Creek Nation Honor Guard.

Rev. Jimmy Anderson, Rev. Frank Moppin, and Rev. Richard Larney were the officiating ministers.

Pallbearers were Richard Larney, Travis Zachary, John Cravatt, Sanders McLemore, T. J. Jesse, Bunnie Jesse, Katcv Larney, Nick McGirt, Bonny Jimboy, and Spooky Jimboy. Honorary pallbearers were Arnold Taylor, James Harris, Jerry Romano, Chris McGirt, Randall Walton, and Walter Palacios.

Wake services were Sunday, February 16, 6:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home’s Lillye Chapel.
