Donald “Duck” Whitfield

Donald “Duck” Whitfield was born September 9, 1936 in Carson, Oklahoma to Robert and Myrtle (Whitwell) Whitfield and passed from this life following a brief illness on February 16, 2020 in Tulsa at the age of 83.

Duck was raised in Carson and attended Carson Grade School. He went to high school in Dustin and was a graduate of Dustin High School. As a young man he honorably served his country in the United States Coast Guard. Following his discharge, he married Sharimon Hammontree and to this union two children were born, Tracy and Sherrie. Duck went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1989 following 30 years of service.

He was later married to Darlene McGlaughlin. They continue to make their home in Carson for many years before moving to Jenks in 2015. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, reading, and he loved to paint and is remembered as a fine artist.

Duck was a longtime member of the Carson Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Peggy Eldridge and Louise Wells, his daughter Sherrie on February 19, 2919, and by his grandson Daniel Whitfield.

Survivors include: his wife Darlene of the home; a son Terry Whitfield and wife Sheila of Sapulpa; 2 brothers, Cleo Robison and wife Jerry of Dustin and Tommy Robison of Lamar; 3 grandchildren, Aubrey Watts, and Chad and Jared Burridge; 10 great grandchildren, Audrey Drake, Wyatt, Avery, and Payton Burridge, Hayden Doughtery, Luke and Daniel Burridge, and James, Dani Kate, and Eliza Watts; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Carson Baptist Church with Rev. Kelos Walker and Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Pallbearers will be Chad Chaffain, Rusty Ervin, Rocky Ervin, Zane Pointer, Earnest Pointer, and Billy McGlaughlin. Interment will be in the Carson Cemetery under the direction of Williamson-Sradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka and Weleetka.
