Roger Lee Mims D.V.M. passed away Thursday, April 16th, 2020 at St Anthony’s Medical Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 72.

Roger was born November 15, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ed and Beatrice Mims. He graduated from N.W. Classen High School in 1966. Roger graduated from OSU with a doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1973. He married his high school sweetheart Lynnell Hafner August 17, 1968. Roger practiced in Purcell, Oklahoma after graduating from OSU. He moved to Holdenville in 1975 and opened the Holdenville Veterinary Clinic. He practiced in Holdenville until 2015 when his health forced his retirement. His love of animals was his life’s passion. He was an avid team roper and won many trophies and made many longtime friends doing what he loved. He was a member of Wewoka Church of Christ and loved his brothers and sisters in Christ deeply.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Lynnell of the home, son Jason and wife Melissa and their children; Jarett, Kennedy, Landree of Kiefer, OK, son Ryan and wife Mikella of Stillwater, OK, sister Lanita Mims of Oklahoma City, OK, sister-in-law and brother-inlaw Nancy and Mark Torbert, of Tecumseh, OK, niece Emily Carpenter and family of Shawnee, OK, Melissa Sawyer and family of Oakwood, OH. Roger is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Joe French, Gary Whitton, Jarett Mims, Jason Mims, Ryan Mims, Raymond Cain. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Goodson, Leon McPerryman, Art Garner, Eddy Neil, Bryan Cain, Kerry Kincade, Dr Calvin White and Danny Simon.

Private family service. Viewing was held from 2:00pm-5:00pm Sunday April 19, 2020, 8:00am-8:00pm Monday April 20, 2020 at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, OK.
