Goldie Coralee (Phelps) Stapp passed away at her home in McAlester, OK, on September 2, 2023. She was 78. She was born December 21, 1944, to Rollie Banks (R.B.) and Addie Mildred (Yarberry) Phelps in Holdenville, OK. She attended elementary school at Lamar School and graduated from Moss High School in 1962.

She graduated from East Central State University in Ada, OK in 1965 with a BS in Education and completed her master’s degree at OU in 1982.

She taught at Omega, Butner, and Roosevelt High Schools before accepting a position as the Business Education teacher at Crowder High School in 1971. She would remain an educator at Crowder School until she retired in 1996.

In 1966, she married Gene Riley Stapp and together they raised three children, Jeana Lee, Billie Jane (B.J.), and Clinton Gene. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crochet, she loved fireworks displays and time spent at the lake with family and friends.

She loved to water ski and ride roller coasters, and she loved to travel.

Goldie is survived by her three children, a sonin- law, a daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, a daughter-inlaw, her children’s father, and numerous beloved family members that she has now joined in heaven.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Crowder Public School Auditorium in Crowder, OK with Marla Chesser and Mark Smith officiating.

Pallbearers: Steven Stapp, Christopher Dodson, Joshua Johnson, Jimmy Williams, Bill Williams, John Stapp.

Honorary Pallbearers: Colton Upchurch, Brandon Tarron, Wesley Harness, Tony Mounce, Ninge Kahdka.

Arrangements by Hudson- Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
