Harold Gene Wood born April 5, 1939 at Gypsy OK. Passed Oct 25, 2021. 82 yrs. Old.

He was born to Randolph and Elizabeth (Hickman) Wood. Lived in Miller, MO from 1979 until his death. Before moving to Miller he lived in Weleetka OK, where he raised his six children.

Harold was in the US Airforce at Edward’s Airforce Base at Edward’s CA. He worked as the Admin Clerk for the General. He finished his duty on July 20, 1961.

In 1964, Harold, wife Peggy and two daughters moved back to Oklahoma and Harold started working for the Frisco Railroad at that time, now known as Burlington Northern. He continued to work for the railroad and was the last one to operate the last Steam Powered Crane. He then was elected to the Maintenance Way of Employees Workers Union of the Railroad as the Vice General Secretary/Treasurer in 1979. He with one other, was the longest team pair of the Union for 20 years. He retired from Railroad and Union with 57 years of service. The Oklahoma Union was created and was named after Harold “Wood Lodge”. Harold enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, cars, casino and horse racing. He enjoyed his buddy from the RR, John Hunt who came by at least two times a week, if not more and visited and to see if he needed anything. He also would mention all time about his nephew Randy who would be coming through with his semi and would stop and have lunch together. He was so excited to think he had the time to visit. In his younger years, his siblings would all meet at Mama’s n Papas on the weekend and visit. Mama always had plenty of food. He would say what such good times they were.

He married Peggy Yvonne (Minyard) in 1956. They had three girls: Debra Lynn, Donna Marie, Denise Ann. Peggy deceased in 1963.

He then married Earlene Hooper they had two boys and one girl. Darrell Gene, Darla Sue, and Dirk Dion. In 1979, he moved to

In 1979, he moved to Miller, MO and remarried in Dec 2001 to Sally Houchin until his death. He had three stepchildren Marty, Jeremy and Cassandra.

Survivors include his daughters: Debra and husband Steve Killmer of Weleetka, Donna Madden and husband of Holdenville, Denise and husband Tom Stone of McAlester; son, Darrell Wood of Okemah, daughter Darla Stephen’s of McAlester, son Dirk and wife Emily of Okemah, step children, Marty and wife Tracy Houchin of MO, Jeremy and wife Betsy Houchin of AR, Cassandra Zimmerman of AR, 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, eight step grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his, Father, Randolph Wood, mother, Elizabeth ( Hickman) Wood, brother Jack Wood, sister, Pat Reid, sister, Shirley Mosco, sister, Linda Wood and grandson, Billy Bachus.

Graveside services were held Friday, October 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Highland Park Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
