Jackie May Flanagan

Jackie May Flanagan was born May 17,1946 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Charles Edward “Jack” Baugus and 011ie Mae (Woods) Baugus and passed from this life November 4, 2020 near Stonewall at the age of 74.

Jackie was raised in Wetumka and attended the Wetumka School. In 1963 she married Orville “Poley’ Flanagan. After spending a couple of years in Tulsa they returned to Wetumka and made it their lifelong home. As a young lady she began working locally at the Hulstine Grocery and then at the Wetumka Clinic with Dr. Williams. Later she began working for Blue Bell (later Wrangler) as a seamstress. Finally, she began driving truck with her husband as a team driver, first for Coast County Express hauling explosives. In about 1991 she took some time off from driving but later teamed back up with her husband to drive for Tyson Foods.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and making ceramics. She also loved sports, especially when her children or grandchildren were involved. She is remembered as a great sideline coach!

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Orville “Poley” Flanagan; her parents, Jack and Ollie Baugus; three brothers, Don Baugus, Ralph Baugus, and Charles Baugus; and a z.. ter, Wyona Alice.

Survivors include: three sons, Wayne Flanagan and wife Angela of Eufaula, Gary Flanagan and wife Shelly of Tecumseh, and Justin Flanagan and wife Mitzi of Stonewall; three brothers, Cecil Baugus and wife Edith of California, Frank Baugus and wife Joy of Wetumka, and Buddy Baugus of Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services were held Saturday, November 7 at 2:00pm at the Wetumka Cemetery with Rev. Roy Robertson and Jim Nolen officiating. Her grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers. Interment followed under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka.
