Jimmie Arvel Taylor

Jimmie Arvel Taylor, 82, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Marlow.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Rev. Jordy McKaskle and Brian Holland officiating. Burial was in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Marlow.

Jimmie was born Tuesday, December 21, 1937 in Holdenville, to Willard Orville and Anne Ellen (Carlton) Taylor. He graduated from Fairview High School and furthered his education, graduating with a Masters Degree in Music and a Minor’s degree in Business from East Central University. Jimmie met Barbara Ann Meadors, and they married on February 1, 1958 in Holdenville and celebrated 62 years of marriage. Shortly after their marriage, they moved from Holdenville, and decided to make Marlow their forever home.

Jimmie shared his love for music with others, by becoming a music teacher. He taught music and typing at Marlow Schools for 32 years before retiring. After retirement, he taught at Empire for two years and Comanche for one year. He was also a member of First Baptist of Marlow for many years, as well as a member of the Lion’s Club, OEA/NEA, and the Retired Teachers Association.

Jimmie loved playing the piano, yard work, gardening and sharing his produce with friends, traveling, watching and attending every OKC Thunder game he could, classic cars, and bargain shopping, but there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family.

Survivors include, wife, Barbara Taylor of Marlow, daughter, Patti Fleetwood and husband Phil of Marlow, three grandchildren: Tara Monsey and husband Justin, Tony Fleetwood and wife Lisa, and Kena Fleetwood, eight-grandchildren: Rylee, Colton, Laker, Dillon, Miles, Major, Jacob and Jonah, sister, Rebekah Taylor of OKC, niece Tammy Griffin and husband Johnny, one great niece and one great nephew.

Jimmie is also survived by Rodney Holstrom and wife Carol, Jason Holstrom and wife Leasha, and Beckett Holstrom, Taylor Dinger and husband Luke, Johnny Monsey and wife Christi.
