JoAnn Harmon

JoAnn (Pendley) Harmon, 76, a resident of Dustin, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 21st, 2020 at her home in Dustin, Oklahoma.

Jo Ann Pendley was born in Hanna, OK to Kenneth Pendley, Sr. and Gladys Hamm Pendley. She was raised along with her siblings, Herman, Ray, Mike, and Kay Pendley in Hanna.

They later traveled to Odessa TX where she attended grade school then they moved to Dustin where she continued her schooling until her junior year when she got married and decided to start a family. She was later blessed with a son named James Ashley Harmon in 1962.

She began working for Howard Johnson in 1976 and worked there for 13 years. She also worked 13 years at EZ-GO.

She was very excited when she found out that she was going to be a grandma in 1993 when her only granddaughter Ashlyn Kay Harmon was born. She helped raise her when she came to live with her son, James until Ashlyn was 14. She took a lot of trips to Oklahoma City to see her sister Kay. They had a special bond that could never be broken. She would help her with her candle business and helped her when she was sick. They were always calling each other and taking trips together. She loved doing crossword puzzles and words with friends. She also loved her western movies she would stay up late and watch them with her son. She loved helping her mother in the kitchen, that’s where she learned how to cook. Everyone loved her turkey and dressing and orange salad.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a tender heart and a kind soul. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her loved her. She was blessed with her first great-granddaughter in 2011, named Braelynn. She would always call her Gracie. Her last great-granddaughter Kynlee was born in 2015. She would always call her a HOT MESS. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was always calling to check on them and her granddaughter Ashlyn. She had several nephews and nieces that she loved dearly. There was nothing she wouldn’t’ t do for anyone of them. Her favorite saying was “Sucks to be you”. She was an amazing and caring woman.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Kenneth “Ray” Monroe Pendley Jr., Terry Michael Pendley, James Herman Pendley; and one sister: Pauline Kay (Pendley) Mitchell.

Those left behind to cherish JoAnn’s memory are her son: James Harmon of the home, granddaughter Ashlyn Harmon grandchildren: Braelynn and Kynlee Johnson, all of Henryetta, Oklahoma, and one grandson: Brian Shelton, of Lawton, Oklahoma.

Viewing and Visitation were held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Integrity Funeral Service, 410 East Trudgeon, Henryetta, Oklahoma.

Graveside Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 25th, 2020 at Hanna Cemetery, in Hanna, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers were Kenny Pendley, Dale Pendley, Steven Kennedy, Steve Kennedy Jr., Dale Arnhart and Eric Mahan. Honorary pallbearers were James Berryhill, Ronnie Joe Burelson, Jimmy Hamm, William Burelson, Ricky Hamm, Cody Berryhill and Donald Wayne Berryhill.

Services were under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service, 410 East Trudgeon, Henryetta, Oklahoma.
