Lumber J. Proctor, 71 year old Holdenville resident since July 2008, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, in Texarkana, Texas. He was born, the oldest of nine children, on October 30, 1949 in McIntosh County, Dustin, Oklahoma to the late father that passed July 9, 2019, Charlie James Proctor.

Lumber grew up in Oklahoma City area and graduated from Classen High School. He was baptized when he was 12 years old; he belonged to Weogufkee Baptist Church.

Lumber and Lydia Wesley got married February 19, 2002 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, stickball games in his younger years. Always loved to watch basketball games when his sons, daughter, and grandchildren played for Wewoka High School; he even watched some of his family members play. He loved to watch basketball and football games on TV, half of the time can’t get him to move from TV.

He worked for McCoy Tree Service for 14 years and for Asplundh Tree Service for 11 years. He also for Creek Nation Housing awhile and decided to retire in May 2010. Lumber was known as the one that kept the family close and loved them all. He loved family time, his brothers’ and sisters’ families and his own family.

Lumber main ceremonial ground was Eufalogee and he helped out Greenleaf ceremonial ground for many years. He followed his traditional ways and attended stomp dances until for some reason years later, it was like he retired from that too. You could always find him tinkering outdoors or getting himself busy in the garage, doing this, doing that, mostly listening to ceremonial grounds singing.

Survivors are Lydia (Wesley) Proctor; one son, Vincent Tilley from Wewoka, Oklahoma; two daughters, Lori Proctor and Augustine Proctor from Holdenville; mother Lena (Pigeon) Proctor from Dustin; three brothers, Bill Proctor from Dewar, Charles Proctor from Henryetta, and Jonas Proctor from Dustin; five sisters; Liz Haynes from Holdenville, Emma Proctor of Henryetta, and Rhoda Proctor, Eva Proctor and Tina Proctor from Dustin. He also leaves 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren

Lumber lost one son, Virgil Tilley, on September 27, 2019, and a greatgrandson, Aidyn Tilley, on September 2, 2016.

A Wake Service was held Monday, January 18th , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Funeral service was 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 19th , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Eric Thlocco officiating and obituary reading by Deacon Jerry Deere of Many Springs Baptist Church. Interment was at Proctor - Pigeon Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mandrill Grant, Khalil Jones, Mitchell Tilley, Virgil Tilley, Jr., Ryan Tilley, and Byron Proctor. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Sulphur, Eric Wise, Sammy Gray, Vincent Tilley, Brian Proctor, Gary Mitchell, Bill Proctor, Charles Proctor and Jonas Proctor.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
