Margaret Sumner
Margaret “Maggie” (Esquiv- el) Sumner of Okmulgee, Okla - homa, age 82, gained her angel wings on October 25, 2022.
Margaret was born on De- cember 16, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas to Rafael Alvarez Esquivel and Antonia (Torres) Santana. She left this world at St John’s Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma after 2 recent accidents.
She was preceded in death by her parents; broth- ers Rafael (infant), Rafael (Ralph) Sr, Ramon, Ra - fael Antonio (infant), and Ruben Carmen (infant). Maggie is survived by her devoted husband of 21 years, Claude Verndell Sumner; sisters Mary Louise Williams and Christine E West of Dallas, Tex as. Children Byron F Bounds and spouse Terri of North Rich- land Hills, Texas; daughter Les - lie B Workman of Kansas City, Missouri; son John E Bounds of San Antonio, Texas. Beloved grandson Troy Lee Workman and granddaughter Brooklyn Jean Bounds. Special nieces Dawn A. West and Judy M. (Williams) Owens; along with a host of other dear family, friends and loved ones. Maggie was raised in Dal- las, Texas with schooling at St Ann’s and with encouragement from Daughters of Charity, she graduated from St. Paul Nursing School and was a registered and talented nurse for 40 years bestowing her compassion and love for people in hospitals and clinics around Dallas, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah. She worked at times night shifts and numerous jobs and the hard physical work took its toll on her body leaving her to endure multiple illnesses and pains that lasted for decades.
Maggie was a working mother who raised three children and a special niece Dawn West. She was creative, crafty, talented in needle arts, loved plants and raised numerous beloved cat babies over the years. She had a quick wit and wicked sense of humor, she loved to laugh, and her husband Claude kept her entertained over the years. She loved PBS British shows and was an avid reader of all genres but especially loved reading and studying the Bible. She had a special love for the Blessed Mother, St. Michael, and her rosaries/praying the rosary. She had a vast collection of rosaries, angels, and cookbooks that she collected or was gifted throughout the years.
Maggie married Claude on June 2, 2001, in Reno, Nevada. They had relocated from Plano, Texas to Salt Lake City, Utah to take care of their beloved first grandchild, Troy, with whom she had an incredible and special bond.
Maggie was as beautiful outside as she was inside. She made lasting impressions with her spirit of kindness, love and compassion by donating to peo- ple, animals and the earth, which is her lasting legacy. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure but know she will live on in our hearts forever. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is free from illnesses and pain, and now has been made whole and is the most beautiful angel.

Graveside services were held, and Maggie was laid to rest on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Non Cemetery, Non, Oklahoma. Viewing/Visitation was held on Monday, October 31, 5:30pm-7:30pm at Belvin Baptist Church, 320 North Mission Lane in Ok- mulgee, Oklahoma.
