Mary Ellen Merriman
Mary Ellen (Gentry) Merriman passed away Wednesday, December 9„ 2020, at the age of 78.
Mary was born October 31, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Floyd Ernest Gentry and Altha Mary (Chronister) Gentry. She attended Holdenville Public School and later married the love of her life U’Dirl Merriman on February 14, 1959, and they made their home in Holdenville OK.
Mary dedicated 22 years of her life working at the ammunition depot in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Mary enjoyed spreading the word of God, spending time with family, singing in church, visiting with relatives and going places with her sister Gloria Gentry.
Mary attended House of Prayer Church in Wewoka OK.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, her daughter Pam and son-in-law Joe Taylor; one grandson Jonathan and two unborn grandbabies; her brother Robert and wife Sandy Gentry, her sister Debra and husband Tommy Grizzle, her brother Jimmy Gentry Sr, her sister Sharon and husband Jim Peters, and one infant brother, Floyd Wallace Gentry.
She is survived by four children, Dirl Gene and wife Rose Merriman, Robert and wife Lou Wanda Merriman, Sharon and husband Mark Brooking, all of Holdenville, Kevin and wife Jennifer Merriman of New Lima; 13 grandchildren: Brian and Kat Merriman, Aaron & Aaryn Merriman, Bentley Merriman, Chris and Brandy Brooking, Breanna & rob Heiskill, Brandy & Roger Crawford, all of Holdenville, Sandy & Bo Sneed, Joshua & Keeley Merriman, all of New Lima, Robert Merriman Jr of Arkansas, Kara & James Pembrook, LaRinda & Jeremy Owens of Calvin, Corey & Taryn Masterson of Sallisan, Kevin & Robin Merriman of Wewoka; one sister, Gloria Gentry. Mary was blessed with 101 great grandkids.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. today, Monday, December 14, 2020, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Holdenville, with Rev. Bill Chesser and Rev. Tommy Azlin officiating. Mary was laid to rest at the Holdenville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Merriman, Sonny Williams, Taylor Moses, Kevin Merriman Jr., Joshua Merriman, Blain Cullum, Chris Brooking, Brian Merriman, Aaron Merriman, and Robert Merriman Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Cory Masterson, Bentley Merriman, Michael Landon Merriman Jr, Randy Crawford, Justin Pembrook, Carter Elliott, Jeffery Pembrook, Joshua Pembrook, Jacob Pembrook, Wilman Sneed, Robby Heiskill, Ruyker Heiskill, C. J. Brooking, Tucker Brooking, Nate Merriman, Jaxton Merriman, Braxtin Merriman, and Bentley Merriman.
