Melissa Worcester, born Melissa Chotkey, was born in Hanna, Oklahoma on February 18, 1939 to Raymond and Mae Chotkey. She departed this earthly life on Friday, December 2nd, 2022 at the age of 83 years.

Growing up in central Oklahoma, Melissa attended school at Eufaula Boarding School and from there she attended high school at Haskell Indian School in Lawrence, Kansas. From there Melissa relocated to New Mexico to attend nursing school in Albuquerque to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

Melissa enjoyed a long thirty-year career working as an LPN for the Hastings Indian Hospital in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. That career started at the old historic Indian hospital that is now part of the campus for Northeastern State University. During her time working for Hastings Hospital, she met and married Gilbert Worcester. Together they had three children: Randal, Cassandra, and Sherry. After she retired from nursing, she went to work at the Tahlequah Walmart working in the shoe department. When she was not working, she enjoyed going to garage sales, shopping for shoes, and gardening in her backyard.

She is preceded in death by her father Raymond Chotkey and mother Mae Chotkey, brother Samuel Chotkey, her husband Gilbert Worcester, and two nephews, Christopher Hill, Marcey Davis Jr and niece Shelley Chotkey.

Melissa is survived by her sister Estelen Secondine of Shawnee, brother Johnny Chotkey of Okmulgee, sister Maxine Hill of Weleetka, and brother Raymond Chotkey Jr of Weleetka, and Winfred ‘Chester’ Chotkey and wife Kitty of Glenpool. She is also survived by her three children Randal Worcester of Oklahoma City, Cassandra Worcester and husband Adolfo Pena of Marietta, and Sherry Ellis and husband Marc of Owasso. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Randal Worcester ll of South Carolina (father Randal), Hokte, Ryan, Diego, Mario, Mia (mother Cassandra), and Mason and Asia Ellis and Levi Ellis (mother Sherry). She is also survived by one great grandson Kaleb Ellis three great granddaughters Cecillyah, Abby, Kambrey, two sister-in-law Robin Fulson and Della Garrison, one brother-in-law Donnie Worcester, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Melissa Worcester was held at the Wetumka United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral services for Melissa Worcester were held Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:00am at the Wetumka United Methodist Church in Wetumka Oklahoma. Curtis Chotkey officiated.

Pallbearers were Chebon Chotkey, Chester Chotkey, Chad Chotkey, Ethan Chotkey, Sean Chotkey, Kota Chotkey and EJ Chotkey.

Interment followed at the Harjo Family Cemetery in Hanna, Oklahoma, under the direction of Williamson- Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka and Weleetka.
