Funeral services for Melvin Ray Gibson will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Salt Creek Indian Baptist Church of Wetumka. Interment will follow at the Barnes Family Cemetery in Wetumka. Wake services will be Friday evening also at the Salt Creek Indian Baptist Church.

Melvin Ray Gibson was born August 23, 1943 in Conehatta, Mississippi to Homer and Lillie (Farmer) Gibson. He passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 78.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Malinda (Barnes) Gibson of the home in Chickasha; one son, Keith Gerard Gibson of Chickasha; two daughters, Sonya Dixon and husband Howard and Cody Ridley and husband Todd all of Chickasha; 6 brothers, Willie Gibson and wife Gwen of Texas, Jimmy L. Gibson of Tulsa, James A. Gibson and wife Georgia of New York, Eddie Lloyd Gibson and wife Lavera of Mississippi, Ronnie Gibson of Mississippi, and Ronald Gibson and wife Sandy of Mississippi; one sister, Lamona Billie of Conehatta, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jimmy Gibson, Jr., Monty Gibson, Luke Dixon, Colt Dixon, Tony Herrod, Nigel Gibson, Lance Gibson and Alex Deer.

Honorary bearers include Toma Barnes, Ryan Herrod, Ted Quesula, Delbert Briscoe, Kyle Gibson, Jeffrey Gibson, Todd Ridley and Howard Dixon.
