Memorial later for Chris Barbre

Chris David Barbre passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Boyce Manor in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 66 after a year and half illness. Chris lived in Hughes County his entire life.

Chris was born October 2, 1953 in Oklahoma City to Jesse Barbre and Anne McFarland Barbre. He graduated in 1971 from Holdenville High School. Chris married Brenda Byerly in 1972. He was a welder and self-employed for many years. He worked in the oilfield and later was a rancher for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holdenville.

Chris enjoyed outdoor activities of all kinds, trips down the river, watching his grandsons team rope, granddaughters barrel race, and grandkids playing sports. He loved his family and spending time with them. He was an OKC Thunder fan, and an OU and OSU fan. Chris was an Eagle Scout in Troop 457 and spent many summers at Camp Sasakwa.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents, and father in law Floyd Byerly and mother in law Wilma Byerly.

He is survived by his wife Brenda of the home; son David Barbre and wife Lori of Holdenville; daughter Becki Phillips and husband Craig of Holdenville; grandchildren, Tanner Goforth, Michaela Phillips, Brody Barbre, Kaden Barbre, Gracie Phillips, and Kinzlie Barbre; and great-grandchildren Everleigh Barbre and Journee Barbre. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
