Mildred Louise Thornton “Polly” was born on November 1, 1033 to Ray and Naomi Owens in Okemah, Oklahoma. She was the second child and first daughter among six siblings. Her parents, son (Will “Sonny” Thornton), husband (Will G. “WG” Thornton), sister (Bonnie Cooper), brother (Clifford Owens), brother (Ray Owens Jr.), brother (Doug Owens) and great grandson (Miles David Roberts) preceded her in death.

After Polly graduated from Clearview High School, she met and married WG Thornton.

Polly aspired to perfect her skills in the work force. Polly knew how to multi-task and get a job done. She was a fast and hard worker and did not mind doing the hard work. She took pride in the positive results of her work. In earlier years, she trained and worked as a secre tary and substitute teacher. She retired from Seagate with over 25 years of service. She also served as a reader at St. Joseph Old Cathedral.

Sher leaves to cherish her sister Irene (LC) Carson, daughter Norma Roberts (Melvin) of San Diego, CA, four granddaughters, Kia (Derrick) Brady of San Diego, CA, Tracy and Torrie Thornton of Oklahoma City, OK, ty Chiles of Oklahoma City, OK, one grandson, Malcolm (Travay) Roberts of San Diego, CA, and 8 great grandchildren: Tyreece Rivers of Dallas, Texas, Brandon Chiles, Ray Holder, Ryan Grant, Kendall Colston, Ryleigh Grant of Oklahoma City, OK, Mason Roberts and Carson Brady of San Diego, CA and one great great-grandchild: Ajani Jade Rivers of Dallas, Texas.
