Muriel Dean Davis

Muriel Dean Davis passed away in Tecumseh, Oklahoma on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the age of 82 years.

Muriel was the daughter of Chester and Florence (Catlett) Collier, born on March 24, 1940 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Holdenville until the age of 16, when she was married to Cecil Emmitt ‘Monk’ Davis on April 14, 1956, in Ada, Oklahoma. They lived in Holdenville for a short time before making their home in Oklahoma City, where Muriel owned and operated Muriel’s Cut and Curl for 25 years, and later worked for WalMart.

Muriel enjoyed taking care of people, and in later years volunteered for nursing homes and Meals on Wheels. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was of the Church of Christ faith and attended the Dale Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Florence Collier; her husband of 59 years, Cecil ‘Monk’ Davis; one sister, Nellie White; and three brothers: B. J. Collier, Junior Collier, and Kenneth Collier.

She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Davis (Mary) of Eufaula, James Davis (Robin) of Norman, and Chris Davis (Janet) of Eufaula; eleven grandchildren, Buffie Peterson of Harrah, Brandon Davis, Colby Davis, Krissa Davis and Erick Davis, all of Oklahoma City, Lindsey Harris of Moore, James Davis Jr, Megan Davis and Shelby Davis, all of Oklahoma City, Amber Davis of Yukon, and Justin Davis of Oklahoma City; fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; three sisters, Doris Stafford of Crescent, Vera Epperley of Holdenville, and Linda Riddle of Yukon; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, 2:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Muriel will be laid to rest at Tate Mountain Cemetery in Wewoka, with Butch Hodge officiating.
