Nellie Jean Clendening Kincade

Nellie Jean Kincade was born February 22, 1928 to Barney Tiger and Cynthia (Jacobs) Tiger and passed from this life August 15, 2023 in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 95.

Nellie was raised in the Hanna area and as a girl attended the Eufaula Indian Boarding School. As a young lady shemarriedBarney Clendening and they relocated to California where they both worked in agriculture for several years. She later returned to Oklahoma and was employed at the Wetumka Nursing Home.

Her husband Barney preceded her in death and she later married S.W. “Toots” Kincade. They made their home south of Wetumka before moving into town a few years ago. Mr. Kincade also preceded her in death.

She loved to travel, especiallytotheOzarks.Oneof her favorite places to visit was Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

She also enjoyed fishing and gardening. The highlight of her day was waiting for Susie and Carlene Bruner to pick her up and take her to the Senior Citizens Center for lunch. It was always the bright spot of her day. Survivors include a daughter Betty Wesston of Arizona and a son Billy Clendening and wife Karen of Wetumka; along with several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.

A funeral service was held Monday, August 21 at the Spradlin Memory Chapel at Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home in Wetumka with Darrell Coachman officiating.

Interment was in the Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home.
