James Carl Oliphant

James Carl Oliphant passed away Saturday, October 19th, 2019 in his home Wetumka, Oklahoma at the age of 67.

James was born July 28, 1952 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Ralph Arnold “Sonny” Oliphant and Emma Jo McKosky Oliphant.  He graduated from Holdenville public school and later attended Eastern A & M and received an Associates Degree in Ranch Management.  James married June Young in Mena, Arkansas on October 23, 1999.  He was self-employed rancher and a member of New Life Church in Wewoka.  James enjoyed fishing, hunting, being a prankster, driving tractors and riding motorcycles.  James did a motorcycle ride from Key West, FL to Alaska once for his enjoyment.  He loved the ranch and spending time with family.  

James is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife June Oliphant of the home, son James Raynor Oliphant and wife Megan of Wewoka, Alisha Cowart of Holdenville, daughter Carlee Poindexter and husband Ryan of Holdenville, son Jason Nix of Holdenville, daughter Amy Nix of Okemah, daughter

and Leesa Roscoe

husband Chris of Choctaw, daughter Angela Nix of Harrah, 14 grandchildren and sister Beverly Hodgins and husband Trent of Okemah.  

Funeral service were 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 23rd , at the New Life Church in Wewoka with Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating and assisted by Perry Justus.

Pallbearers are Raynor Oliphant, Jason Nix, Chris Roscoe, Byron Cates, Terry Stone and Swade Johnson.  Honorary pallbearers are Glen Payne, Michael Nowakowski, Trent Hodgins, Dave Cofer, Johnny Hoover, Roy Sisco, and Billy Brown.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Eline Thompson

Eline Thompson passed away Monday, October 21, 2019. She was born on September 14, 1926 to Ora Lavern and Jack Jones in Stuart, Oklahoma.  Eline was the third daughter and was raised with nine sisters and five brothers.  

She spent her childhood in Kim, Colorado and moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where she met and married Ernest Thompson on September 20, 1946.  Ernest and Eline were married for 51 years.   They owned Thompson Furniture in Holden-ville where Eline was involved in the Business and Professional Woman’s Club and active in the Mother’s Club as well as the Pink Ladies.  

Eline and Ernest loved to garden which led to canning many jars of pickles and hot sauce.  Eline loved her family, water aerobics and horses.  

Eline is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest; son, Phillip; daughter, Mary Ann; and great-granddaughter, Kalisia Stewart.  

She is survived by her sons Doug Thompson and his wife Walda, Steve Thompson and his wife, Kay, David Thompson and his wife Brenda, and Clay Thompson and his wife Sunnye; daughter-in-law, Barbara Thompson; and daughters Nina Chase and her husband, Larry, and Jamie Carroll and her husband, Mike.  Eline was blessed with 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.  

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 26th at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville, Oklahoma with Pastor Kent Carroll officiating.  

Pallbearers are Chris Chase, Gary Copeland, Kent Carroll, Billy Thompson, Jason Thompson, Ronnie Copeland and Kevin Copeland.

The family wishes to thank the Southern Plaza Memory Care and the Good Shepherd Hospice for their excellent care.

Services under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home Holdenville Oklahoma.

Bradley Howard Seale

Bradley Howard Seale went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2019.

Brad is survived by his wife Karol Seale (Gore), daughter Kathryn Ann Parker and husband Grady, son Bradley Bryan Seale and wife Cheri, and grandchildren Hayley Parker, Austin Parker, Ashleigh Seale, Alison Seale and Connor Seale.  He is also survived by 2 brothers, James Seale and Don Seale.

He is predeceased by his father, Columbus Bradley Seale, mother Lottie Howell Seale and sister Dalene Seale.  

Brad was born in Calvin, Oklahoma on February 17, 1939.  He graduated from Calvin High School in 1957 and served in the United States Army Reserve immediately following graduation.

On July 1st, 1960, he married the love of his life - Karol Kay Gore.

Brad was a devoted father and grandfather.  He enjoyed raising his cattle, being at his beloved farm and doing all sorts of activities with his grandkids.

He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends and all that knew him.

Funeral service was held on October 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Service in Oklahoma City.

Georgia Durant

Georgia Durant, 74, of McAlester, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester.  Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Georgia was born on March 10, 1945 in McAlester to Cecil and Irene (Cathey) Nave.  She married Don Freeman Durant on October 16, 1964 in Denison, Texas.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and working in her flower beds.

Survivors include her husband, Don Freeman Durant of the home; children, Jerry Dwayne Durant of Durant, Larry Don Durant of Ada, Johnny Cecil Durant of Ada, Morris “Ray” Durant of McAlester and Lea Ann Thompson of Fort Smith, AR; grandchildren, Jeremy Durant, Jacob Durant, Cheyenne Durant, Cherokee Durant, Grayson Durant, Sydney Durant, Nicholas Thompson and Olivia Thompson; great-grandchildren, Jade Durant and Jane Durant; brothers, Dale Nave, Cecil Nave, Jim Nave and Clyde Nave; sisters, Fern Echelle, Aline Talbot, Gladys Ethridge, Joyce Webb and Evelyn Ridley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Irene Nave; brother, Eldon Nave; sisters, Imogene Nave and Norma Dean Lewis.

Active pallbearers were Jerry Durant, Johnny Durant, Ray Durant, Jeremy Durant, Jacob Durant and Nicholas Thompson.  Honorary pallbearers were Larry Durant, Dale Nave, George Ridley, Jeff Nave, Steve Nave, George Finamore, Bill Ethridge and Freddie LeJeune.

Pinky Bemo-Yahola

We have learned today that Pinky Bemo-Yahola of Wetumka passed away this morning. We will have a full obituary in next week’s Tribune.
