Our Sympathies extended to the families of... Evelyn Yargee McLemore

Funeral services for Evelyn Yargee McLemore were held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Alabama Quassarte Levina Beaver Center in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Wake services were held Monday at 7:00 PM also at the Levina Beaver Center.

Evelyn Yargee McLemore was born August 9, 1947 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Phillip Yargee and Winey (Scott) Yargee. She passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home in Wetumka, Oklahoma at the age of 74.

Evelyn was a longtime resident of Wetumka. She married Ed McLemore on July 11, 1987 in Hughes County at the Alabama Ceremonial Ground. Evelyn was a loving homemaker who enjoyed traditional Mvskoke Hymns and was also on the Alabama Quassarte Tribal Town Governing Committee for 20 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two children, Phyllis Ann Yargee and Matthew Eric McLemore; 10 brothers, Roman, Joseph, Samuel and Dave Yargee, John King, Wallace Scott, Henry Yargee, Steve Yargee, Bobby Yargee and Tarpie Yargee and one sister, Bessie Wise Talamassey.

Survivors include her husband, Ed McLemore of the home; three sons, Lewis Proctor and wife Shirlene of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Jarrod Proctor and wife Gwendolyn of Tahlequah and James McLemore of Wetumka; three daughters, Wilma Barnett of Okemah, Cecilia Barnett of Wetumka and Annora Barnett of Okmulgee; one brother, Jacky Yargee of Okemah; two sisters, Rovena Yargee of Holdenville and Josephine Yargee of Holdenville; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her uncle, Turner Scott of Wetumka.

Evelyn’s family served as pallbearers.

Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Wetumka, Oklahoma and officiate by Rev. Paul Fixico and Rev. Mark Smith.
