Our sympathies extended to the families of Iris June Freeman

Iris “June” Freeman passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at her residence in Lamar, Oklahoma at the age of 94 surrounded by her family.

June was born February 12, 1928 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Thedore William Carl and Emma Marie (Jordan) Carl. She graduated from Dustin Public School. June married Joel Henry Freeman April 7, 1947 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was a seamstress for Komar, before retiring in 1989. June loved cooking for her family, gardening, quilting and was an accomplished seamstress. June was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lamar.

June is preceded in death by her parents; husband Joel Freeman; daughter Phylllis Jo Luna; sister Betty Waggoner; and brother Billy Don Carl.

She is survived by her son Donnie Freeman; grandson Brian Freeman and wife Shelly of Lamar; granddaughters Paulla Slawson and husband Ron of McAlester, Tina Cartwright and husband Tom of Lamar, and Jenifer Freeman Shockley and husband Brent of Lamar; great-grandchildren Tyler Slawson, Bailee Adams and husband Lane, Garrett Cartwright, Madison Puckett and husband Chandler, and Blake Crawford; great-great-grandchildren Elliott Adams and Sutton Puckett; sisters Sharon Sue Wallace of Texas and Janice Coble of Weleetka. June is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, March 10th, at Lamar Cemetery, Lamar, Oklahoma with Rev. Marla Cheeser offi ciating. Interment will follow at Lamar Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Brian Freeman, Blake Crawford, Garrett Cartwright, Tyler Slawson, Jay Gamble and Jimmy Roberts. Honorary pallbearer is Tommy Joe Robinson.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
