Porter John Olden

Porter John Olden was born July 3, 1954 to John H. and Iola Mae Olden in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Porter attended Holdenville Schools and graduated in May of 1972.

Throughout Porter’s life he was proficient in many things. He served in the US Army, 101 st Airborne Screaming Eagles Division Special Forces, worked as a tool pusher on multiple drilling rigs, worked at the Army Ammunition Department, was a veterinarian assistant, horse farrier, horse breaker, dog trainer, welder and was the leader of pony express club named the Hughes County Raiders.

Porter was especially proud of all of his children, Patrick Olden, Shawn Olden, Levi Olden, Jessica Olden and Christopher Robinson.

On March 6, 1992 Porter married LaRhonda Bryson; together they had a life of excitement and adventures. One of their favorite songs was Cadillac Style by Sammy Kershaw, although Aunt Rhon would say, “he drove a Lincoln at the time.” The two lived together in Holdenville until God decided to call him to his eternal home.

Porter was so full of life, you would always know when Uncle P.J. was coming into town by the loud rumble of his truck pipes. He would often call out, “Get it, Long!” or shout “Hey, what you doin’, chicken head!” Porter enjoyed spending time with his family and friends delivering the excitement anywhere or anytime; his unmistakable laughter was contagious. Of his multi-facet skill set, he loved riding and breaking horses, he was known to fearlessly mount up onto the wildest horses around. Porter John was one heck of a man and will forever be remembered as a hardworking stubborn outlaw that always done things his way and to his wife, he was her everything.

Preceded in death are his mother and father, John H. and Iola Mae Olden; and his sons Patrick Olden and Levi Olden.

Porter leaves to mourn his wife, LaRhonda Olden of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Johnny Gordon of Holdenville; sister, Phillis T. James of Holdenville; sister, Patricia Newbill of San Jose, California; sons, Shawn Olden of Tulsa, and Christopher Robison and wife, Kaci of Mexia, Texas, and daughter, Jessica Olden of Tulsa; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, cousins and friends.
