Always a perfect example of grace, patience and unconditional love, Sue Gordon was a loving wife and Mother. She had a positive outlook on life and encouraged others. She was passionate about teaching, and many of her colleagues became lifelong friends. Faith was the foundation and spiritual core of her family, and as the matriarch of the family, it was very important to her. Sue loved life and had a heart of gold.

Roberta Sue Gordon was born August 14, 1934 to Ruth “Bobbie” and Ralph M Boucher and her family lived in Ardmore, Oklahoma through her high school graduation in 1952. After graduation, Sue immediately began studying at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English education in 1955.

While attending college, she met the love of her life, BR Gordon, and they were married September 3, 1955. They had 2 children, Joni Davidson and Ronny Gordon, and they were married 62 years before BR passed away in 2018.

After moving to Oklahoma City, Sue began teaching for Putnam City Schools at Central Junior High School. When Western Oaks Jr High was built in 1963, she transferred to teach 9th grade English. Sue retired from Western Oaks.

While her children were in the home, and while continuing to teach full time, she earned a master’s degree and later earned an additional certification in counseling. She was a guidance counselor during her last years in education. Sue was recognized as Teacher of the Year and sponsored several organizations. Sue was passionate about her job as a teacher and enjoyed her students.

During retirement, she loved delivering meals with Meals on Wheels to people in need. Sue was a lifelong member of Western Oaks Christian Church in Bethany, Okla. She was a member of CWF, Christian Women’s Fellowship, loved her church family and attended faithfully until she could no longer attend.

Sue enjoyed daily walks around her neighborhood and hiking on vacation. She was an avid reader, a fabulous cook and loved hosting friends and family for meals.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, BR; sister, Ruth Lyane; nephew, Tommy Lyane; and several in-laws, all dear to her heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Joni and Jon Davidson; son, Ronny and Lori Gordon; grandchildren, Lacey and Dustin Crocker and Maddie Gordon; great-grandchildren, Mason, Maverick, Daxton and Baker; and several bonus great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Don Boucher; sisters in law, Joyce Dempsey, Barbara Cummins, Donna Klick, Peggy Wilmeth and Karen Brock; and brothers in law, Willard and Faye Gordon, Ronnie Gordon, John and Rilda Gordon, Harold and Jeannie Gordon; along with nieces and nephews who were very special to her.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 10:00am at the gravesite in Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery, 14300 N County Line Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73142 with arrangements by Mercer-Adams Funeral Home. Bethany, Okla.
