Service Friday for Marguerite McDonald

Marguerite McDonald was born on March 5, 1925, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Harvey and Bertie Smith Wages.  She departed this life for a new life on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the wonderful age of 94 years, 4 months and 6 days.

As a young child, Marguerite resided in Stigler and as a teenager attended school in Allen, Oklahoma.  She was baptized at the age of 13 in the First Baptist Church of Allen by Pastor James Hogg.  At 16 years old, Marguerite worked as a telephone operator in Allen five years for Southwestern States Telephone Company.  

She married Elmer McDonald on June 16, 1946.  From that happy union, four children were born: Darla, Linda, Regina, and Kenny.  Marguerite was a mother, housewife, worked on the County Election Board for 60 years serving as Clerk, Judge, and Inspector during those years.  She was also a member of Eastern Star.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Mc-Donald, and brother Harold Wages.  

Survivors are her children, Darla English and husband Gary of Longview, Texas, Linda Calvert and husband Gary of Eufaula, Regina Hightower and husband Rex of Gerty, and Kenny McDonald and wife Greta of Holdenville; grandchildren Angela Folds, Bryan Simpkins, Denise Laughlin, Jennifer Hauser, Matthew McDonald, Samantha Peek, Sabrina North and Rachel McDonald; great-grandchildren Jonathan, Kayla, Macy, Christopher, Timothy, Lila, Sophia, Lorali, and Kennedy; great-great-grandchildren Delilah and Zahra; many nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law Faye Harden and Betty Wages.  

Special thanks to nephew Steven Don Craw-shaw, granddaughter Denise Laughlin, and special dear lifelong friend Pam Campbell for care of our precious mother.  

A family gathering will be 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, July 18th , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 pm Friday July 19th , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel Holdenville, Oklahoma.  Service will be officiated by Don Harden and assisted by Bill Robinson; interment will be at Calvin Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Bryan Simpkins, Jonathan Laughlin, Chance North, Matthew McDonald, Steven Crawshaw and Ben Wood.  Honorary pallbearers are Gary English, Gary Calvert, Rex Hightower, Bob Sherry, James Simmons, Tommy Orr, Jerry Martin and Leroy Dunn.
