Service held for Judy Ann Powell

Funeral services for Judy Ann Powell were held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Okemah. Judy Ann Powell was born March 18, 1945 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Frank and Elizabeth (Carnes) Speir.

She passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 73. Judy was a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma for the past 30 plus years. She was a 1963 graduate of Okemah High School. She later graduated from Seminole Jr. College and OSU in Okmulgee.

On June 15, 1961 in Newnata, Arkansas she married James Robert Powell; he later preceded her in death, April 28, 2017. Judy retired from the Department of Human Services after nearly 30 years of employment and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading. She also loved to take pictures, working crossword puzzles and especially helping others.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Gene Speir. Survivors include her son, Michael Jay Powell and wife Sarah of Bristow, Oklahoma; her daughter, Tina Renee Jenner and husband Terry of Glenpool, Oklahoma; one brother, Charles Speir and wife Betty of Allen, Oklahoma; three sisters, Kay Moore and husband Ernie of Checotah, Sue Aber and husband Hal of Oklahoma City and Sallie Fulsom Wright of Atlanta, Georgia and six grandchildren, David Polhamus, Andrew Wright, Jason Powell and wife Jolene, James Powell and wife Ashleigh, Garrett Polhamus and Thomas Jenner.

Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Bro. Bert Robison.

In lieu of flowers; donations are welcome to be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the King of Kings Church Comfort Dog Ministry Fund of Glenpool, Oklahoma.
