Service held for Kenneth Lee

Kenneth Carl Lee joined his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the age of 89.

He was born February 4, 1930 to Roy Roosevelt Lee and Mary Elizabeth Pinion Lee in Holdenville, Oklahoma.  He was the second of four boys, James, Harold (Bunny), and Charles.

At the age of 19, Kenneth, along with his brothers Bunny and Charles, enlisted in the National Guard in Hughes County.  After completing Basic Training at Camp Polk in Louisiana, he served in both Japan and Korea where he drove officers and heavy equipment to the front line.

For his military service, Kenneth earned the Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Camp Star and the UN Service Medal. Following his discharge from the Army and the National Guard, Kenneth returned to Holdenville, to begin his long career as a groceryman and raise his family with his wife Dorothy Earlene Hamilton.

In September 1953, he began his grocery career at Burden’s IGA Food-liner and worked faithfully for 55 years before eventually retiring from Nichol’s Super Saver in 2008.

Kenneth was known and loved by the entire community for his kindness, his fun-loving nature, his smile, and his generosity.  He frequently donated to local organizations and never missed an opportunity to donate blood in order to help others when they needed it most.  He even earned recognition for donating more blood than anyone else in Hughes County.  Kenneth also became very active in his church and took great pride in assisting with the renovation of the building.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 27 years, Elaine Mayo Lee; his brothers, James, Bunny and Charles; sister-in-law Fern Lee; and step-children Linda Mayo and Mike Orr.

He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Odalee Lee and Deloris Lee of Kansas, and Shirley Lee of Holdenville; his children, Michael (Laura) of Rockdale, Texas, Tommy (Lisa) of Weleetka, and Cheryl (Danny) McDonald of Wylie, Texas; his grandchildren, Jon (Laura) Lee of Los Fresnos, Texas, Mallarie (John) Blackford of Marion, Arkansas, Alissa Lee of Tulsa, and Tanner McDonald of Wylie, Texas; his great-grandchildren, Olivia and David Lee of Los Fresnos, Texas and Roslyn and Brooklyn Blackford of Marion, Arkansas.  He is also survived by his step-daughter Sandy Orr and family of Dallas, Texas; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Kenneth’s life was full of joy that overflowed into the lives of everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral service was 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 4th , at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, Holdenville, with Brother Earl Scroggins officiating. Interment will follow at Holdenville, Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jon Lee, Tanner McDonald, Ronnie Lee, Chuck Lee, Ron Hunter and Jerald Coym,
