Service held for Russell Lynn Smith

Russell Lynn Smith passed away at his home in Holdenville on Friday, March 6, 2020, at the age of 50 years.

Lynn was the son of Douglas Lynn Smith and Linda (Wake) Smith, born on September 28, 1969, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He graduated Holdenville High School with the Class of 1987 and became a welder after attending Tulsa Welding School. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Holdenville and studied the Bible extensively. He loved the outdoors and photography, and especially enjoyed riding motorcycles and canoeing.

He is preceded in death by his father, Douglas Lynn Smith; three infant babies, Rae Lynn Smith, Russell Lee Smith, and Sawyer Levi Smith.

He is survived by his mother, Linda Smith (Jim Gustin) of Holdenville; his brother, Bryan ‘Mule’ Smith, also of Holdenville; brother Paige Bassett (Kellie) of Coeur d’alene, Idaho; stepbrothers Andy Gustin (Jamie), Tony Gustin (Lori), and Timothy Gustin, all of Shawnee; nephew Cole Smith of Holdenville, and niece Bryann Smith of Oklahoma City; his grandmother, Mary Ellen Wake of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two aunts, Libby Ellen Singleton and Brenda Wake, both of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two uncles, Gary Wake (Virginia) of Lockesburg, Arkansas, and Russell Wake (Teresa) of Ashdown, Arkansas; numerous other family members and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 9 th , 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Holdenville, and Lynn was laid to rest at Glory Cemetery with Rev. James Poulain officiating. Pallbearers were Roger Pickett, Richard Mills, Jackie Simmons, Russell Wake, Jesse Simmons, and Walt Sherry. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Wake, John Stirman, Travis Jackson, and Paige Bassett.
