J.D. Olden passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at home in Denton, Texas at the age of 73. J.D. was born February 1, 1947 in

J.D. was born February 1, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Cleveland Olden and Nicey Stroud Olden. He graduated from Booker T. Washington high school and received his Masters degree from the University of Oklahoma. He married Yvette Holloway November 30, 1996 in Las Vegas. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Evangelist Temple Church.

J.D. worked for the Department of Defense as a supervisor. He enjoyed watching football, camping, was an OU fan, and coaching his son’s soccer team. He was a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge and reached a 33rd Degree and was also a Shriners member.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Dawn Melee’.

He is survived by his wife Yvette Olden of the home; children Jamie Olden and wife Shandreka of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tara Dawn Wasson-Olden of Tampa, Florida; grandson Kenneth Sims of Tampa, Florida; sisters Cleva Mae Irby of Tulsa, and Charles Woods and husband Woody of Richmond, California; brother Kenneth Olden Sr. of Richmond, California; and by numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 Saturday February 15th, at Shiloh Baptist Evangelist Temple Church in Horntown with Pastor John T. Berry officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Baptist Evangelist Temple Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Cleveland Olden, Arthur Presley, Doyle Hooks Sr., Ed Frazier, James Olden and Percy Craig Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Olden Sr., Woody Woods, Wendell Olden, Earl Hooks Sr., Jamie Olden and Lequency Barnett.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
