“The guy from New York City”, fondly known to his family and friends as Georgie, nicknamed “Speedy”, passed from this life after a brief illness on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born in Manhattan, New York on October 2, 1939 to George and Olga (Santos) Gonzales. As a child he was raised in the Bronx, Astoria Queens, and Bethpage, Long Island.

He loved to talk and reminisce on any subject, would make a friend where ever he went. He enjoyed dancing and remembering the 50’s era. He enjoyed classic car shows and was a member of Still Cruising Car Club for over 25 years. When he retired from the New York City Transit Authority he relocated to Oklahoma.

He leaves behind his wife Ida of 48 years; fur kids, Shadow and Prince; birds, Romeo and Sandy; daughters Donna and Julie; sons George GonzalesIII, and Michael; daughter Debra; cousins Rita O’Neill and Lynn Franklin of Tennessee, Susan Thomas and husband Steven of Long Island, New York, John Santos of Florida, and Lydia Cervini and husband Paul of Connecticut; brothers-in-law Leon Wesley, and David Wesley; sister-in-law Letitia Wesley; dear friends Sandy Lanuto, Tony Calliano, and Mark Smith. George is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father George Gonzales, mother Olga (Santos) Gonzales, and brother Leonard Gonzales.

We loved him dearly and he will be missed.

A wake was held on Monday, September 20 th , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 21 st , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Holdenville with Pastor Jimmy Anderson officiating assisted by Assistant Pastor Eddie Gordon.

Honorary pallbearers are Sandy Lanuto, Tony Calliano, Mark Smith, Leon Wesley, David Wesley, Roderick Wesley, Kendrick Wesley, Siah Wesley, Micco Wesley, Bear Harjo, and Gabriel Wind.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
